Dear John

I am going to bed tonight [too late] with a sore nose that I can't breathe out of, a trash can full of tissues, and a great appreciation of my husband and life in general.

Sometimes, good books will do that to you.

8 reasons why i am glad it is today:

8. it was my last day of real teaching...until december 11
7. small group tonight
6. i taped my favorite show last night and am about to go watch it
5. it's closer to the weekend than it was yesterday
4. it's closer to thanksgiving than it was yesterday
3. it's closer to Christmas than it was yesterday
2. no parent visitations at school today

and the number one reason i am glad it is today...

cleopatra was playing with a sock when i got home today, instead of playing with this:

in the past week or so, I've:

* swept water across my basement floor until my back aches
* led a 2 hour workshop for 50 or so colleagues
* opened windows and turned on ceiling fans
* given up my first place spot in fantasy football...to my pastor
* held my tongue when I wanted to speak my mind

did i plan to do any of these things? no.

am i a better person for doing them? perhaps.

let it ring

today was so rewarding one minute, and so frustrating the next.

i had to leave my room and go for a walk to cool off.

i talked to a couple friends, and that helped.

but i was still steamed, and so i decided that my mantra for tomorrow is 'let it ring.' i don't want to talk about it. i'm wearing sweats to work, and buying a delicous breakfast on my way, and having a good day. and i'm not going to answer my phone. leave me a message, i'll call you back on monday. tomorrow will be good, and i refuse to deal with this impossible situation right now.

i'm not home.
